A partnership between FCCAA, Community Action Southwest, and Westmoreland Community Action, the Southwest PA Community Development Corporation focuses on creating jobs in Washington, Greene, and Fayette Counties. Shop Demo Depot

Community Action Southwest, Westmoreland Community Action, Washington and Greene Counties, and FCCAA have collaborated to develop the Shop Demo Depot non-profit retail outlet. Shop Demo Depot reclaims unused or gently-used building materials from local contractors and homeowners and resells those items to the general public at a greatly reduced price. Shop Demo Depot’s mission is to reduce landfill waste and promote the resale and reuse of goods, while financially supporting Community Action initiatives that help those in need.

Westmoreland Community Action

Westmoreland Community Action’s mission statement, “strengthening communities and families to eliminate poverty”, continues the agency’s dedication to assisting those in need, but also focuses on the need for communities to do more to help the less fortunate in the county.
Community Action has been in Westmoreland County since 1980. Westmoreland Community Action still administers social service programs to alleviate and eliminate the conditions of poverty and assist the County’s disadvantaged populations.  With 28 years of experience, Westmoreland Community Action has learned to meet the changing needs of children, adults and families by setting outcome-based goals and using solid case management in conjunction with supportive service programs.
The agency provides integrated services which compliment the workforce development and welfare systems, address child and family development needs, address mental health needs, create job opportunities, create homeownership opportunities and encourages citizenship and volunteerism.  Together, these services benefit more than 6,000 individuals each year.

Community Action Southwest

Community Action Southwest (CAS), a non-profit organization, has been serving Washington and Greene counties since 1965. CAS serves as the catalyst to mobilize the resources of the entire community to enable families and individuals in Southwestern PA to attain the skills, knowledge, motivation and opportunities to become self-sufficient.  We offer programming in the following areas: Early Childhood Services (Head Start, Early Head Start, Pre-K), Nutrition Services (WIC - Women Infants & Children), Family Economic Success, and Senior Services.  All CAS programs are designed to help low-income people achieve a greater degree of self-sufficiency. Our goal is to mobilize public and private resources to deal with the causes of poverty, not just its impact. Community action Southwest believes poverty will end when enough people care.  CAS is engaging our community because…It Takes end poverty in our community.
