WIC Formula Recall Information

Which infant formulas were recalled and why?
Abbott Nutrition voluntarily recalled infant formula after four consumer complaints related to
Cronobacter sakazakii or Salmonella Newport in infants who had consumed powdered infant
formula manufactured in their Sturgis, Michigan facility. The recall is for select lots of powdered
Similac Advance, Similac Sensitive, Similac Total Comfort, Similac For Spit-Up, Alimentum
and Elecare.
The recall does not include Similac Isomil, Similac Neosure, any liquid concentrate or ready to
feed formulas.

How do I know if my formula was recalled?
Powdered formulas under recall have a specific multidigit number on the bottom of the
container. Call 1-800-986-8540 or go to www.similacrecall.com and enter your product
information to see if your containers were recalled.

What do I do if my formula was recalled?
Take all recalled formula containers to the grocery store customer service desk and tell them
you have recalled formula. A receipt is not required but may make the return easier. The store
will provide you with replacement formula, store credit, or a refund. If you have any problems
at the store, contact your local WIC clinic.
