Women, Infants and Children – WIC

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program offers participants:

  • nutrition and health education and assessments that lead to improved health during the most critical stages of growth and development
  • EBT benefits to purchase healthy foods; farmers market vouchers for locally grown fruits and vegetables
  •  breastfeeding counseling
  • benefits for formula for babies who aren’t breastfed

Additional benefits of the WIC program include monthly virtual prenatal classes for pregnant women to learn about breastfeeding along with the monthly Caring Moms’ Café where moms engage with peers to learn about breastfeeding, challenges and supports along the way.

Along with these benefits, WIC has partnered with the Uniontown Hospital Labor and Delivery Unit to help bridge the gap between delivery and a family’s first WIC appointment; providing breastfeeding support to new moms as soon as possible.

WIC staff pride themselves on providing excellent customer service as they partner with local families to help them achieve their health and nutrition goals.

At this time, WIC also features these additional services through specialty partnerships:

  • Monthly diaper distributions
  • Period products for post-partum women
  • Cooking classes for families to help improve nutrition, health, and cooking skills

The Fayette WIC program has 3 site locations throughout the county.
