More than 30 years ago, FCCAA envisioned its Campus of Services. The vision was to establish a central location where the agency would offer its services and co-locate partners in a one-stop setting. At the time, the agency based all operations within its first building, the Community Service Center located at 137 North Beeson Avenue in Uniontown.

In 1998, FCCAA opened the Family Service Center. Within 10 years of the Family Service Center’s construction, additional buildings were added to the Campus of Services with Meadow Heights Apartments (144 North Beeson Avenue) and the Administrative Service Center (108 North Beeson Avenue).

Additionally, an abandoned warehouse in Redstone Township (the Redstone Satellite Center) was acquired where the agency’s county Food Bank is now located with a full-service commercial kitchen.

In addition to the Campus of Services and the Redstone Satellite Center, FCCAA leveraged multiple funding sources to create 180 apartments and 43 single-family homes over the years:

  • Beeson Town Homes | 2, 12-unit apartment buildings, 11 single-family homes and 1 duplex built in the City of Uniontown.
  • Fairchance Senior Housing | 36-unit apartment building for older adults located in Fairchance.
  • Fairweather Lodge | 8-unit permanent supportive housing program for individuals with a mental health diagnosis located in Connellsville.
  • Fayette Apartments | 10-unit housing complex for individuals with a mental health diagnosis located in the City of Uniontown.
  • Lenox Street Apartments | 6-unit housing complex for individuals with a mental health diagnosis located in the City of Uniontown.
  • Maple Garden | 36-unit apartment building for older adults located in the City of Uniontown.
  • Meadow Heights | 60-unit apartment building for older adults located in the City of Uniontown.
  • Uniontown Family Homes | 30 single-family homes built in the City of Uniontown for individuals and families with lower incomes. Tenants have an option to purchase their home, in time.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is the largest network of adult volunteers in Fayette County. RSVP connects adults who are 55 years and older to volunteer opportunities at non-profits organizations, senior centers, food pantries, arts and cultural organizations, and community centers.

RSVP members apply their life experiences, skills, and interests to meet community needs and help improve the lives of Fayette County residents. Members can volunteer according to their schedule and availability. Volunteers may be able to receive some cost reimbursements for travel, meals, and liability insurance coverage. Download the RSVP volunteer enrollment packet.

Non-profit organizations, schools, libraries, hospitals, arts and cultural organizations, and community centers are able to become sites to host RSVP volunteers.

Fayette County Community Action Agency (FCCAA), Inc.’s Home Delivered Meals program provides daily nutritious meals to eligible homebound seniors who reside in North Union Township, South Union Township or within designated mountain areas of Fayette County. Other subcontractors provide meals to older adults who reside in other areas of Fayette County.

Staff and volunteers prepare home delivered meals at a local senior center then deliver meals to the homes of recipients.

FCCAA does not directly enroll participants in the Home Delivered Meals Program. An assessment must be completed by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging to determine eligibility; this agency can be reached by calling 1-800-734-9603.

The Fayette County Community Action Agency, Inc. (FCCAA) Food Bank coordinates the Pennsylvania Senior Food Box Program in Fayette County.

The PA Senior Food Box Program (formerly known as Commodity Supplement Food Program) provides Fayette County residents aged 60 and over with boxes filled with healthy and nutritious foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, canned foods and cheese once a month.

Eligible and registered seniors receive a free box of healthy, non-perishable foods. Products are provided by the USDA and include bottles of 100 percent juice, cheese, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and stews, milk, cereal, peanut butter, and more.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free tax return preparation to qualified individuals and senior citizens. Taxes are prepared by trained volunteers who must pass IRS tax law courses. The VITA and TCE programs are offered at Uniontown Mall and operate from late-January to mid-April.
